This year a total of 111 projects from 33 countries applied for Derida Dance Center´s Residency Program. We received applications from Albania, UK, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Tanzania, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Australia.
Now that the selection process is finished we are happy to announce the list of selected candidates for 2017:
- For the period 20.04-2017 – 20.05.2017 - Tobiah Booth-Remmers from Australia/Belgium with the project Lār
- For the period 16.06.2017 – 17.07.2017 - Lydia Zimmer from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with The Dissociation Project
- For the period 1.08.2017 – 31.08.2017 - Ravid Abarbanel from Israel with the project Disintegration

Derida Dance Center’s Residency Program in 2017 started with Chieh-hua Jeff Hsieh from Anarchy Dance Theater, Taiwan in February. We also selected the following residents to invite for a residency period in 2017:
- Brice Leroux from France, Violeta Vitanova and Stanislav Genadiev from Bulgaria with the project DUO
- Ofir Yudilevitch from Israel– first place winner in the Choreography Competition that launched Machol Shalem’s annual International Dance Week in 2016, awarded a residency in Derida Dance Center; Co-production project between Derida Dance Center (BG) and MASH (IL)
- Ofra Idel, Ruby Edelman, Adam Shapira and Tzvika Iskias from Israel, Three party cooperation between MASH (IL), Derida Dance Center (BG) and Pro Rodopi Foundation (BG)
- Rebecca Margolick from Canada/USA, GPS Fund, supported by Trust for Mutual Understanding New York
We are very excited for the students of our educational and training program Dance PORT Derida, supported by America for Bulgaria Foundation, to be able to learn from our residents this year during the 10-hour workshops with them.
