Derida Dance Center opens a call for application for one year-long educational and training module in contemporary dance Dance PORT Derida 2022/2023.
Dance PORT Derida is a program, developed by Derida Dance Center, that provides the opportunity for professional development in the field of contemporary dance and physical theatre. For one whole year, the participants will be given the chance to build one stable culture of movement and skills useful for future professional realization.
The success of the program is being proven through the achievements of the graduated participants, who, currently, are ones of the most active artists in the field of contemporary dance.
The artistic director is the choreographer and art director of Derida Dance Center – Jivko Jeliazkov who was chosen by “Aerowaves – dance across Europe” to be among TOP 20 choreographers in Europe.
What are the purposes of the module?
▸ To get the psychophysics of the participants ready for future professional realization in the field of contemporary dance and physical theatre;
▸ To develop and enrich the participant`s movement culture;
▸ To assist the formation of artistic individuality in the participants.
Who can apply?
▸ Anybody could apply for Dance PORT Derida, as long he/she desires to actively work in the field of contemporary dance and physical theatre. No past experience is obligatory, as well as education in dance. All applicants must be over 16 years old.
What is the duration of the program, as well as the working schedule?
▸ The training program is with the duration of 1 calendar year.
▸ The training program will be conducted every weekday from 15:00 to 17:00 h. Alternately, there would be organized workshops and presentations with different intensities and duration.
What does the educational program consist of?
▸ The program includes contemporary dance classes, classical ballet, modern dance, and movement styles, which develop certain aesthetics in contemporary dance. Workshops with guest choreographers from all over the world are also included in the program.
How would the progress of the participants be evaluated?
▸ During the whole period, public presentations will be organized.
▸ The participants that do not develop as well as the others would lose the opportunity to be a part of the program.
▸ In the last part of Dance PORT Derida, the participants will take part in a rehearsal period and the creation of a performance, produced by Derida Dance Center.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it and fill the application form until March 7, 2022. The approved candidates will be invited to attend a workshop in the time period of March 14 - March 17, 2022. After the workshop, the chosen will be announced.
The educational program Dance PORT Derida 2022/2023 would include a monthly fee in the amount of 150 BGN.
Important condition: Attendance not less than 75 % is demanded. Participants that do not cover the attendance percentage will be asked to leave the program.
